Speakey is a local-first application. Your audio and transcripts never leave your machine. We don't collect telemetry, we don't run analytics, and we don't track you.
All audio capture and transcription processing happens entirely on your local GPU. No audio samples, transcripts, or dictation content are ever transmitted to our servers or any third party. The application functions identically with the network adapter disabled.
The desktop application contains no telemetry, usage analytics, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind. We do not collect information about how you use the application, which features you use, how often you use it, or any other behavioral data.
When you activate a license, the application sends your license key and a machine identifier to our server. The machine identifier is a one-way hash derived from hardware characteristics — it cannot be used to identify you personally. This is the only data transmitted during activation. No audio, transcripts, settings, or usage data are included.
When auto-updates are enabled in Settings (opt-in), the application checks our server for the latest version number on startup. This request contains only your current version number — no user data, machine identifiers, or other information is sent. Auto-updates can be disabled at any time in Settings.
Transcription history is stored locally on your machine in your application data directory. You control whether history is kept for the current session, persisted across restarts, or disabled entirely. Individual entries can be edited or deleted at any time. History data is never transmitted anywhere.
Our web server maintains minimal access logs for operational purposes (IP address, requested URL, timestamp). These logs are rotated and deleted automatically. We do not use this data for tracking or profiling.
The speakey.io website does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics services. No cookie consent banner is needed because there are no cookies to consent to.
Purchases are processed by Paddle, our payment provider. Payment information (credit card, billing address) is handled entirely by Paddle and is never stored on our servers. Paddle's privacy policy governs their handling of payment data.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any third parties. The only third-party service involved is Paddle for payment processing, which receives only the information necessary to complete your purchase.
License activation records (license key + machine hash) are retained for the duration of your license. Web server logs are retained for no more than 30 days. We do not retain any other user data because we do not collect any.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Our commitment to local-first, privacy-respecting software will not change.
